Repeat of Letterman's San Francisco Show
(January 29, 2000)
With David Letterman recuperating from open heart surgery, CBS is repeating some classic shows Letterman did in the past. Among them were Dave's week long stay in San Francisco five years ago. That was when NASH BRIDGES premiered, and of course, Don Johnson was among the guests.
The Don Johnson appearance was re-run on Monday, January 24th. As we reported then, a hilarious clip was dug out from Don's past, as a guest on THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO. Don played a character labeled as a "Hotdog" and the clip was edited down to repeat "Hotdog" as much as possible. And since it was the last day of Dave's San Francisco stay, Dave and Don carried a sofa from the studio set and gave it away to an audience member. Such are the fond memories of the first season of NASH BRIDGES...

We Hear From Our Most Loyal Reader
(January 29, 2000)
Hello there Gordon,
I'm sitting here laughing after watching this episode. I remember when
we first started talking about Nash's black book. Over the last couple
of seasons since Caitlin entered his life, there have not been any
'encounters' to add to the book. However I never thought I would see the
day when the 'Nashman' was in a hotel room with a beautiful (and willing
lady) <G> and he would send her away. I'm still ROFL as I think they
put it in computer language.
Still enjoy coming to your site every week. Best wishes,
Joy
Gordon's Response
Yes, Nash's black book has really dried up, hasn't it? And this highly unlikely scenario in the "Liar's Poker" episode doesn't do much for Don's reputation as a Romeo. But he is now a MARRIED Romeo in real life, and an attached Romeo in NASH BRIDGES. Good to hear from you, Joy...
Don's Horse Wins
(January 29, 2000)
Hi Gordon
This might be something for the Nash News . Karin:>)
Six days after Lady At Peace's front-running surprise in the San Gorgonio Handicap, Penny Blues, the longest shot in the field of five 3-year-old fillies at 15-1, rallied from last to win the $106,000 Santa Ynez Stakes Sunday in Arcadia. Owned in partnership by actors James Gammon and Don Johnson-Gammon portrays Johnson's father on the CBS series "Nash Bridges"--Penny Blues won for the second time at Santa Anita in less than a month, beating 2-1 second choice Classic Olympio by 1 1/4 lengths in 1:23 1/5 for the seven furlongs.
Gordon's Response
Thanks Karin - that's NashBITS for Nash news.
Don and Cheech To Host People's Choice Awards This Sunday (January 9)

Don Johnson and Cheech Marin were chosen as representative of the people in this annual awards event. Different this year is an online connection, with live voting in two categories, with winners to be determined on the night of the event.
Favorites in movies, television, and music are determined by a special poll by the Gallup Organization. The event is held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California.
Don's Home in LA Sold
(January 9, 2000)
Don's Beverly Hills home in LA has been on the market for some time now, and it's finally been sold for close to the 2.85 million asking price, the LA Times are reporting. With his roots now in San Francisco, this is the last vestige of Don's past and memories of his previous marriage. Don owned the Beverly Hills home for about 10 years, sharing the home with then wife Melanie Griffith. He's a San Francisco person now, living in the Pacific Heights area with new wife Kelley and new baby Gracie.
Fan Backlash on Caitlin Continues
(January 9, 2000)
Is everyone as fed up with the Caitlin character and the stale unexciting
"romance" as everyone I know is? If this is a ploy to capture the female
audience, it is not working on any female I know(including myself) who
watches the show. She occasionally has a flash of realness, even interest,
but no where near enough. I wish she were gone. All of the previous
female cops were so much better it is unreal. If the show survives this
year, it will be a miracle as even the writing is very uneven…… Sue
Gordon's Response
Fan reaction to Caitlin has generally been lukewarm. It's just hard to believe Yasmine Bleeth as a cop, but no more than it is to believe Arsenio Hall as a cop on MARTIAL LAW. Wuf, wuf.
Cheech on Morning Radio Show
(January 9, 2000)
Hi Gordon,
I was tuned in to 97.3 FM, known as ALICE http://radioalice.com/ Monday am.[January 3rd]
I am not certain they were live or it was a "best of". I did hear a spot
this am that said Sara and Vinnie were on vacation today so???? The website
says they are indeed "recycled" this week...
Anyway Vinnie mentioned meeting Cheech and also his 13 yr old son who Vinnie
thought was more like 16(big kid I guess) at an event .
So Cheech says he is a regular listener and Vinnie of course can't believe
it. Anyway he says they should get him on the show...So the next day or so
in the studio the DJs are mentioning how it is impossible to get a response
from Cheech via his publicist so Sarah pleads for Cheech to call in, gives
toll free number and within a minute he calls in.
He is cool and chats about how he listens to their show everyday as he is
taking his kid to school. Also mentioned that he tried to get to one of
Vinnie's gigs, (Scrotum Pole is the band) but he had to work.
Also mentioned that sometimes he will say "let's see what's on the news"
if he feels they are getting too nasty(my word not Cheech's) for his son...
Also a comment about how they'll be listening to the old Cheech and Chong
routines while doing dishes and he'll take note of which parts his son
laughs at..an indirect way of getting inside his kid's head I guess..
That's about it...
Eddie
Gordon's Response
Thanks, Eddie. Don't listen to too much of that loud rock music. Thanks and keep the info coming.
