Nash: | You think I'm crazy, huh? |
Caitlin: | No, I think I'm crazy for going along with you. |
Nash: | Easy, easy, down girl. |
Caitlin: | I know what you're doing. |
Nash: | Oh, you do, huh? Well, why don't you enlighten me, C'mon whiddit. |
Caitlin: | You're making me an accomplice, Nash. When the MCD (Management Control Division) comes down on you, I'm going to have to defend it because I'm in on it. |
Nash: | Hah, hah, hah (cackling). Now, gee, I hadn't thought of that idea, but it's a damn good one. |
Grace Houser is driven to the bank. Her wealthy husband Philip is held hostage, and Grace is to withdraw half the savings from her bank account. The driver observes, but Grace manages to borrow a cellular phone and sneak a call to her friend Nash. Grace informs Nash of the situation, but Grace is cut off. Nash and the SIU race to Grace's home, only to discover her dead husband at the top of an elevator shaft.
Nash questions Grace and though he suspects something else, accepts Grace's answer that she was followed home by a couple who robbed them. Caitlin Cross is assigned by Judge Maxwell to watch over this high profile murder case. A receipt from Philip Houser leads Nash and Caitlin to Mr. Woodley, publisher of a swinger's magazine. From a list of respondents to the swinger's ads, three match SIU robbery reports, including the Housers. Grace fesses up, and Nash decides to place a phony ad with Nash and Caitlin posing as swingers.
Meanwhile, Joe is asked by Nick to get back the body of his best friend Rodney Wilke. Nick and Rodney made a pact during World War II - Rodney was to be cremated and his ashes spread in the San Francisco Bay, but his grand nephew donated his body to SFU Medical School. Joe goes to see Mr. Lloyd and offers a bribe for the body, but Mr. Lloyd refuses.
Nash, Joe and Caitlin go to see one of the robbed couples, but walk into a volatile situation. Mr. Tolson swings with his nanny Carmen, but his wife has yet to find out. During questioning, Carmen confesses to Mrs. Tolson. Mrs. Tolson turns violent, and Caitlin expertly subdues her. Begging to be placed in jail (away from his irate wife), Mr. Tolson reveals the location of a private swing party.
At the swing party, Nash and Caitlin (posing as swingers) encounter Cole and Sidney, the couple that robbed the Housers. Nash and Caitlin also bump into Judge Maxwell, just before Nash orders Evan to raid the party and arrest everyone. Nash and Caitlin suspect Cole and Sidney, but they cannot hold them in jail. Nash hatches another idea to rattle Cole and Sidney. Nash and Caitlin pose as corrupt cops and announce to Cole and Sidney that they are their new partners in their swing scam to rob wealthy couples.
Meanwhile, Joe, Nick and Boz Bishop (the latest temporary "office help") sneak into the Medical School and steal Rodney's body. The mortician does not show, forcing them to bring the body back to the private investigation's office. Nash shows up looking for Nick and discovers the situation, but Nash denies he saw anything. Evan visits Cassidy and finds a male friend in Cassidy's dorm room. Cassidy asks for more "space"; Cassidy discovers Evan on a date with another woman; Cassidy confronts Evan and the two become estranged.
Cole kidnaps Caitlin, leaving Sidney to watch over Caitlin. Cole goes to meet Nash who suspects something is wrong. Nash backs the 'Cuda into Cole and dumps Cole into the Bay. Caitlin escapes and ties up Sidney, just as Nash arrives with a handcuffed and wet Cole. Mr. Lloyd arrives at headquarters to complain about the stolen body - Nash offers Mr. Lloyd another fresh body of a young bank robber with no known relatives. Nash helps a sad Nick empty the ashes of his friend into the Bay.
