| Nash: | Are you following me? |
| Michelle: | I got a call from, ah, Auto Theft Department. They want me back to run the unit. |
| Nash: | Congratulations. Why don't you look happy? |
| Michelle: | 'Cause I don't know if I want to go back. I love the SIU, is that crazy? |
| Nash: | No, but you know, these things usually aren't voluntary. |
| Michelle: | I know, but I want to stay. I think I still have a lot to learn. I think it would be better for me in the long run. |
| Nash: | I'm flattered. |
| Michelle: | Could you help me? I mean, is there somebody you could call? |
| Nash: | There probably is, but I'm not going to make any promises. |
| Michelle: | I understand. Thanks. |
The Prowler is on the move, as we see videotape of previous victims. He breaks into another woman's bedroom and sets up his camcorder. Nash and Joe arrive at the crime scene to find the woman tied up, still alive, on her bed. Nash and Joe break down a door to the washroom and set off a Polaroid camera trap that the Prowler has left for them.
The woman has not been sexually assaulted, though Nash suspects the Prowler will eventually get increasingly violent and kill. The SIU examines a lighter deliberately left behind by the Prowler and lifts a fingerprint from the item. Harvey finds the Prowler's video of his latest assault on a web site called Charlotte's Newsroom. Ex-reporter Charlotte Ford reveals that she was contacted via e-mail, and told to go to a drop site where the videotape was left. Given Nash's address, Charlotte shows up late one night with another tape. On the tape, a direct threat is made to Nash and the SIU by the Prowler.
Meanwhile, Nick, Nash, Joe and his visiting son JJ dine at a polynesian restaurant. All are invited by Nick's latest girlfriend and ballroom dancing partner. JJ bites into a rock and fractures his tooth. Harvey has a dispute with a neighbor whose Great Dane keeps urinating on his delivered newspapers.
The Prowler's videotape is a used porno tape which shows an actress. Evan traces the studio, and finds out who shot the tape - a Ricky Alan Klinsman. Klinsman is linked up to disgraced reporter Charlotte via a story she did on Klinsman four years ago about a security guard who did a series of robberies. The SIU goes to Klinsman's address, but he escapes.
Michelle receives orders to return back to Auto Theft, but Nash helps her to stay in the SIU. Joe, along with Nick, sue the restaurant and get a 101,000 dollar settlement. A disappointed Nick expects to receive 50 percent, but Joe disagrees. Harvey ends up with the dog King after the irate owner refuses to take the dog back. Michelle sends flowers to thank Nash for keeping her in the SIU, but she is called back to her apartment about a plumbing leak.
At the surveillance of Charlotte's apartment, Harvey and Evan catch a man paid to drop off the latest videotape. The tape reveals the interior of Michelle's apartment. The SIU rush to Michelle's apartment; Nash calls to warn Michelle. They arrive too late - Michelle has been shot dead. A desperate Nash performs resuscitation on a dead Michelle. The Prowler ends up on the roof. He intends to give up, but Nash kills the armed Prowler instead. A devastated SIU sits in shock, especially Harvey who is close to breaking down. A saddened Nash receives Michelle's belated thank you flowers.
