Cecil Riskin has embezzled $15 million dollars from shady businessman Yuri Vashkov. Cecil meets with Nash and Joe at the Fish Market in a secret meeting. Cecil agrees to testify against Vashkov in exchange for immunity in the Witness Protection Program. However, Cecil does not trust Nash and Joe, so Cecil arranges to have Nash and Joe killed if Cecil is killed. Sure enough, Cecil is killed by Yuri's hitman in a bomb explosion.
Nash and Joe locate a bomb-building expert, Chug Barton, as a possible suspect. The team also identifies 3 of the best assassins who are after Nash and Joe. Frank is a knife specialist, Jamie is a female mob assassin, and Mike Hart is the bomber who killed Cecil. Nash and Joe are jumpy as they begin to suspect everybody who crosses their path. After meeting with Chug Barton, Nash and Joe find out his bomber-buying customer is Mike Hart.
Meanwhile, first ex-wife Lisa has landed her first corporate client and is preparing to expand her business into the Bridges Dessert Company. Daughter Cassidy has been nominated for a Student Academy Award. Dad Nick has a new beautiful, tough nurse named Whitney Thomas who knows how to handle the wily old man. Joe's wife Inger tells Joe she is pregnant. Nash brings Nick to stay with Lisa until the danger to Nash is over.
Nash saves a deranged man calling himself Nash's "Guardian Angel" from committing suicide. Nash and Joe are shot at by a sniper. In a meeting with the assassin Frank, Nash and Joe are shot at again, but the bullet kills Frank. Nash and Joe pick up Mike Hart, but Hart refuses to implicate Vashkov. Hart escapes from jail by killing Nash's "Guardian Angel." Chug Barton informs Nash that Hart has ordered another bomb. Nash and Joe set-up Hart by having Chug place a landmine under Hart's foot. Hart agrees to testify against Vashkov.
At the hotel where the Student Academy Awards are to be held, Nash is trapped in an elevator with Jamie, the female mob assassin. Nash disarms her, as Nash bumps into Whitney Thomas. Whitney agrees to stay on permanently as Nick's nurse. Cassidy doesn't win her award, but is visited by actress Donna Pescow.
